ONCE

I was that girl nude and brimming

who plunged into the sea one night

                                   to quench her ravening pores

                                                                      letting salt water slide

                                                       like a boy's hands

                                        over her smooth belly

                                   slip between her limbs

sea salt to her salt blending

Bubbles spurl from fingertips and toes

                              her body swirling phosphorescence

                    as galaxies above her whirl

           that just now

                         touch her

                                        these years later

                                             with spent light
